NFP Scholarship for PhD Studies in the Netherlands

Description

The Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP) grants fellowships for PhD studies to a particular target group of professionals of 51 countries. Applications to NFP have to be submitted by one of the participating universities in the Netherlands.
Wageningen University (WU) has more interested candidates than it is allowed to submit. Therefore it organises a pre-selection procedure for NFP via the Graduate Schools. If you are interested in applying to this fellowship programme, please read the instructions carefully.

Visit the web pages of NFP for all the rules and regulations. It is essential to first determine your eligibility for this programme. Please take this serious! Working for an international NGO makes that you are not-eligible. Same is valid for not being able to produce an employers statement that meets the requirements.

The WU selection procedure for NFP applications uses a two-step approach:
1.       Candidates who consider themselves eligible for NFP express their interest to participate in the next NFP call. Such an expression of interest should be addressed directly to the contact person of the graduate school that covers your subject. Applications to more than one graduate school are not allowed, and will not be taken into account. In order to participate in the preselection, the interested candidate needs approval of a WU chair group/supervisor willing to supervise the candidate. The graduate schools can assist candidates in finding potential supervisors.
2.       The graduate schools  select the most suitable candidates (NFP applies several criteria, see their webpages). Only the selected candidates will be allowed to upload their application to NFP.

Expressions of interest to one of the graduate school should consist of:
o    A cover letter
o    A preliminary research proposal
o    Curriculum vitae
o    A scan of BSc and MSc diplomas, and a list of grades for both degrees
o    Certificate of proficiency in English (if applicable):
o    Copy of your passport
o    Employers statement
o    Government statement (if applicable)
See the instructions (given below) for details.

The deadline for the next NFP call is 1 November 2016 (this is the deadline for Wageningen University to nominate candidates). The deadlines for the WU pre-selection are:
o    Submission of your expression of interest to PE&RC: between 1 July and 4 September 2016;
o    Notification of the outcome of the pre-selection: 23 September 2016
o    Selected candidates send updates all required documentation to the graduate school: not later than 16 October 2016!! The graduate schools will check all documents once again and then inform you how to upload the documents.
Questions about the WU preselection for NFP can be addressed to the contact persons of the graduate schools.
